It's careful planning and knowing how to professionally spruce up your home that will send home buyers scurrying for their checkbooks. Here is how to prep a house and turn it into an irresistible and marketable home.


#1 - Painting

It's time to spruce the place up a bit and it all starts with a fresh paint job. That funky orange accent wall just isn't working anymore. 

Remember, you are trying to appeal to the broadest audience possible so keep the colors neutral. You can never go wrong with an off-white or light grey to really bring a home back to life.


#2 - Repairs

You don't have to go crazy here but it's time to replace that flickering light bulb, reattach the knob on the kitchen drawer, and get those closet doors working properly again. 

When buyer's walk through your home they will be opening closets, looking in cabinets, and turning on all the lights. Nothing turns a buyer off quicker than a "worn" looking condo.


#3 - Declutter

It's time to throw out all the extra junk that makes your condo feel cramped. Rent a storage locker to put excess furniture, toys, and whatever else you've been hoarding over the years to really open the place up. 

You want the home to feel as spacious as possible. I know it's a pain to rent storage but when you have 4 offers next spring because your home feels bright and airy you will be happy you did.

It's important to have realistic expectations of not only what your home will sell for but how much you will actually walk away with..... after all fees, taxes, etc.
